Welcome to my sewing journal.
Do you remember xanga? this is gonna be similar, for now at least.
So I meant to do this whole launch on my birthday, which was a week ago, but I wasn’t quite “ready”. And I guess in business terms “ready” means launching the website & products & a whole ass marketing campaign & yada yada yadada.
Then last night I had a revelation to just write what I’m going through and share it here. Who cares if my website isn’t perfect & my products aren’t uploaded to sell. I was ready the moment I started making products that I wanted to share with other people. The only difference is now finally realizing how I want to share it.
So yes, products are being finalized and almost ready to upload. When? Honestly whenever I feel like it. I’ll let you know. Deadlines are made up! If I learned anything working in corporate it’s that if you talk to the right people in the right jobs in the right way you can pull off anything.
But to give you a time frame because I’m not completely out of touch, hopefully less than a month. Like however long it takes me to sew some samples for myself, take pix & get them uploaded. Then figure out this whole online shop thing. I refuse to put out products without showing you how it could look in the end.
So yes, initially I’ll be modeling my own creations. I’ll be working on making a capsule wardrobe and you are encouraged to join me. This is a journey we can take together. I’m not doing this to make clothes for other people. I’m selfishly okay with wanting to make my own clothes. YOU can make your own clothes and I’ll guide you through it. You have a design idea and need the pattern? I GOT YOU. You want to learn how to sew, I GOT YOU.
Something you should know about me is I’m not really into being front and center & prefer working behind the scenes. Quotes about making moves quietly are more my vibe. Also telling people you’re making moves quietly is not moving quietly. YES, I realize I’m pretty much doing exactly that right in this moment. The irony is not lost on me. I’m just saying.. do not expect me to be hella in your face. Just because I can be loud does not equate to me wanting to be the center of attention. We have voices for a reason.
So even though videos and pictures are super huge & crucial to marketing right now, we’re gonna dance a little differently here & tell our story through words. Okay, there will be pictures and maybe even videos, but this is a journal & journals are meant to be written. I did just get an idea to do something similar to this but as a photo album. Also maybe something like a phonebook instead of “followers”. We’ll see.
Right now I’m very much a solopreneur but I will also be using pronouns like we, our & us. The team is growing one person at a time. Using pronouns that represent a collective is just my way of manifesting and planning.
So yes, this is going to be a little unconventional, conventional & me don’t vibe.
Anyways I gotta go, one of my best friends is taking me out for a late birthday celebration.
