Stories of a Bruha – Lin Woven T-Shirt Reveal

Update 05.30.2025

SIMULA: The start of a new beginning

With the new moon in Gemini, I’m taking the time to celebrate & embrace a new beginning & here she is, the first milestone of this new chapter, me in the Lin Woven T-Shirt with her namesake, my mama.

This shirt and my mom are both pretty beautiful right?! This photo will also always hold a special place in my heart.

STORY TIME!

Since my parents are the best, they have generously allowed me to store all the craft & hobby collections I don’t use often back in their home, aka the original Crafty Bruha Studio. My current space is limited and was feeling hella cluttered. My parents on the other hand have plenty of space plus I can always use it as an excuse to drop in on them & again they’re the best. I’ve been slowly moving things back into my old studio & seeing them everyday. Which I honestly love, because again, they’re the best. hahaha I’m not trying to suck up to them or anything, I don’t even know if they’ll read this. I just absolutely adore my relationship with them and am so grateful to have the freedom and flexibility to spend time with them in the middle of the week. Okay, now why this photo is special. I told my mom about this shirt and told her I needed to take a picture of me in it with her since it’s named after her. We decided to do take the picture the next day.

So the next day my mom told me I could take one of the shelves back to my place for better organization and storage. As we were getting ready to take it apart we found some rust on it and had to clean it. It worked out though since my dad had to go to the grocery store for the third time of the week (it was a Wednesday).

So after we finished cleaning off the rust on the metal shelf while still waiting for my dad to get home, she put on a pretty top and a tiniest bit of make up. Then when my dad got back & instantly started cooking we had to remind him we needed him to take the photo. All while the family dog, Pearlette, was "patiently" waiting for him to feed her. My dad isn't a photographer and I could barely get him to take 3 pictures in a row. Apparently 1 is enough and 2 is excess. I did tell him where to stand & tried to show him where to hold the camera and that was the outcome. Not bad right? Who needs professionals when cooking dads can get the job done? haha! It’s a memory I’ll keep close to my heart because it’s so normal for us and sometimes normal is all we need.

Yes, Crafty Bruha started in my parent’s basement, hella cliche. I’m aware & I love it.

I’ve sewn up quite a few things over the years but this might be my favorite. Philippine woven fabric from an epic trip that I’ll cherish forever, the first pattern in this new volume of Crafty Bruha & named after my favorite woman.

So I’m thinking of naming the journal something different. What do y’all think of “Stories of a Bruha”? Leave a comment! Open to suggestions too.

Oh yeah and let me know what you think of this shirt?! Do you want to learn how to make it?
